Bill Cummings
Bill Cummings has two passions: teaching and finance. He started teaching math and coaching beginning at the middle school level, then high school, and ended up teaching at a community college. It was an amazing and satisfying career getting to know a lot of wonderful students and excellent faculty members.
After retiring, Bill decided he wanted to do finance and he wanted to be independent. By belonging to two Field Marketing Organizations (FMOs), this allowed him to focus on several areas and not be limited to one company.
Bill believes in the “Bucket Plan” approach, a different way to think about the money that can help reduce risk on a portfolio that is being relied upon for income. The “Bucket Plan” approach helps clients only take as much risk as necessary to grow wealth. Risk can be mitigated using certain types of investments or even avoided when using certain types of life or annuity products.
Bill specializes in lifestyle planning with an emphasis on tax efficiency. He knows how much and what to put in taxable investments, tax-deferred investments, and tax-free investments, and the very important lifetime income. This ensures his clients are secure knowing their money will last throughout their lifetime regardless of how long they live.
When it comes to protecting assets from creditors, Bill helps provide a roadmap for clients so they don’t have to worry about having their valuable assets taken in a lawsuit.
Bills office, Madison Hill Financial, is located in Anamosa. He and his wife Bonnie live on a small acreage outside Center Junction. Both are Elders in their Presbyterian Church and Bonnie is a retired teacher and holds offices in philanthropic endeavors. They have five children and four grandchildren.
